The blood donation exercise took place in the school premises under the auspices of the Ghana Blood Transfusion Service on Tuesday 2nd february, 2010.
The school agreed to take part in the blood donation exercise to help the Service get more blood for its bankrupt blood bank.
In all, only 63 out of more than volunteeres were able to donate blood to the service as a result of shortage of equipments. Among the donors was the Director of GLISS, Mr. Hamada Momtaz.
Mr. Michael Sottie a co-ordinator at the Ghana Blood Transfusion service, expressed his gratitude to the entire GLISS community. He noted that he underestimated the willingness of the school to donate blood to the service. He also added that the exercise was one of the most successful ones he has witnessed and the the Muslim community is the most generouswhen it comes to blood donation.
He indicated that all donors will be given certificates showing their blood groups. And that all the blood will be screen for hipatitis and other diseases.
